The next “it” phone, the Vivo V7+

When you build a smartphone with a number of revolutionary “firsts”—a 5.99-inch all-screen display and 24MP front camera, for starters—everyone must know about it. Vivo’s extravagant unveiling of its groundbreaking V7+ at the Manila Marriott Hotel’s grand ballroom last Wednesday gathered young hot celebrities, social media influencers, and industry movers and shakers for a night of big reveals from the brand that has been making great strides since its debut in the market two years ago.

Consistently outdoing itself with innovative features that further heighten and enhance users’ smartphone experience, Vivo’s V7+ is a sleek, lightweight phone with an 84.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. This presents a larger visual display (12.5 percent more, to be exact) for selfies, movies and games.

Speaking of games, Vivo’s V7+ Game Mode allows hours of uninterrupted gaming even during incoming calls and SMS. Multitasking is also possible with Smart Split 3.0. With a simple click or slide of your three fingers down the screen, you can conveniently run multiple applications in split-screen mode.

‘Perfect selfie’

To live up to its reputation for taking perfect selfies, Vivo came up with its latest camera technology based on five elements consumers worldwide desire: clarity, brightness, natural appearance, smooth skin, and 3D aspect.

Its 24MP front camera is just one way to achieve super-sharp and detailed self-portraits. Face Beauty 7.0 employs a new algorithm to capture selfies—and video calls, much to the audience’s delight—with brighter, smoother complexions even in dimly lit environments. Portrait Mode (or bokeh effect) blurs backgrounds just like a large aperture focus on a DSLR camera to give selfies depth and a crisp contrast. A 16MP rear camera produces equally bright, clear and detail-rich images.

The feature that got the most applause, however, was Face ID access, which instantly unlocks the V7+ through facial recognition.

With 4GB of RAM and 64GB of ROM expandable to up to 256GB (meaning more storage space for your selfies) and a heavy-duty 3225 mAh battery, the dual SIM Vivo V7+ also boasts a new and improved Hi-Fi audio chip for superior mobile music quality.

Such industry-leading technology makes this smartphone a steal at P17,990. It’s available in Champagne Gold and Matte Black.

Celebrity ambassadors

The debut of the flagship phone prompted the expansion of Vivo’s roster of celebrity brand ambassadors. Joining Vivo Philippines CEO Ted Xiong, Philippines VP and head of sales Hazel Bascon, Philippines brand director Annie Lim, and head office trainer Andrew de Guzman at the event were on-and-off-screen couple Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, pioneer endorsers Tony Labrusca, McCoy de Leon, Sue Ramirez, Andrea Brillantes, TJ Monterde, Paul Salas and Sassa Dagdag, and new ambassadors BoybandPH, Darren Espanto, Jason James Dy, Chiena Filomino, Maris Racal, KZ Tandingan, Julie Anne San Jose, Barbie Forteza, Kisses Delavin, May May Entrata, Loisa Andalio, Kira Balinger, Ashley Rivera, and event co-host Iñigo Pascual.

Echoing the sentiments of his fellow influencers, Padilla, who spoke in the vernacular, said, “I really like this phone. What’s not to like about it? It’s got a 5.99-inch screen and a good size. Nice to hold.”

Bernardo added: “I love everything about this phone. The 24MP front camera is perfect for selfies, group shots and a lot more.”

Vivo was named one of the Top 5 global smartphone brands by world-leading market research firm TrendForce. Vivo is the exclusive smartphone of the 2018 Fifa World Cup.
