Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila recently announced its “Wine Days 2017”—a monthlong event that coincides with the annual celebration of the French harvest festival, which is celebrated with drinks and gastronomical delights.
Wine Days 2017 started off with the Sky-High Soirée: Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite Cocktails that was supposed to be held at the Sofitel helipad, but had to be moved to Sofitel’s Imperial Residences due to inclement weather.
It showcased drinks from Château Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite, the same house that produces some of the world’s most expensive wines.
Sofitel’s lobby, meanwhile, was transformed into a wine and cheese bar. The design and layout was an homage to La Grande Epicerie de Paris, a high-end Parisian store.
Other vino-themed events include a special Sunday brunch promo at Sofitel’s dining destination, Spiral, until Oct. 29. Available are vintage wines from Argentina, the Loire Valley, Burgundy, California and Australia. Offered, too, are artisanal wine and champagne jam by Pierre Marmonier.
Sofitel guests will likewise get a taste of the world’s most expensive champagnes on Oct. 17 as Spiral presents “The Bubbly: Exclusive Champagne Tasting,” featuring top-tier vintages from Moët & Chandon, Krug and Dom Pérignon.
On Oct. 19, Sofitel’s wine sommeliers will take guests on a journey through France with “The Art of Wine,” an appreciation class.
On Oct. 22, the Vendage Brunch at Spiral will feature different wines produced in regions that harvest in the month of October. Guests will get a glimpse of the traditional winemaking method of grape stomping to release the fruit’s juices and begin the process of fermentation.
At Sofitel’s Le Bar, an event called “Voyage du Vin” (Voyage of Wine) is offering a selection of New World and Old World wines every Friday and Saturday until Oct. 28. —CONTRIBUTED
