Staying true to its initiative, the two, in partnership with the Food Caterers Association of the Philippines, kickstarted with a big event – The Caterers’ Summit.

The Caterers’ Summit is an event specifically made for caterers who want to step up their game, especially for the holiday season. The Summit was held at Green Sun Makati, gathering 150 delegates – restaurant owners and caterers alike. Industry experts were invited to share their secrets in event styling, recipe-making, and even social media engagement.

Pido Villanueva of Ambiance by Pido was the event’s opening speaker. He delved into the topic of holiday event styling, saying “Event styling doesn’t have to be expensive, you may use whatever you have –all that is needed is imagination and a dash of creativity”, with which he demonstrated by creating a centerpiece with just a few pieces of apples, and a beautiful side table masterpiece by using twigs from trees and fresh pieces of plants and flowers, leaving the delegates in awe because of the fascinating ornaments made from scratch and on the spot.

Richie Cruz tackled the beverage segment of Upping the Food & Beverage Menu in the Catering Scene, sharing with the delegates how to make innovative refreshments by using Nestle Professional’s various beverage products with the layering and colorology techniques. The crowd favorite? The Butterfly Iced Tea – not the typical Iced Tea but a combination of Nestea House Blend and Nestle Orange. Truly, all the drinks were holiday-season-perfect.

The food segment was addressed by The Celebrity Chef, Myke “Tatung” Sarthou, who inspired the caterers to push themselves to win and thrive in the industry. He shared a number of strategies to up the catering game and left the delegates with his number one rule, “Don’t overthink –the key is consistency and product excellence.”

Lastly, Speaker Martine De Luna concluded the program by discussing the effectiveness of social media in converting customers, sharing with the delegates the most important digital marketing do’s and don’ts for food pages online, as well as tips on how caterers can get booked for the holiday season through facebook, instagram, and blogging.

Indeed, it was a day full of learnings and solutions for the country’s caterers! We look forward to Zomato Philippines and Nestle Professional’s future projects to up the F&B game.
