It’s vintage yet modern—and now square

Peers Hardy International sales and marketing director Paul Harry

Henry London, that young watch brand that’s as idiosyncratic and stylish as the city it’s named after, now comes in squares. Known for its classic dome-shaped mineral glass and vintage silhouettes, it launched recently the Heritage Square Collection, its first-ever square-shaped watch line.

Inspired by iconic luxury brands of the 1960s, the Heritage Square comes in gold, rose gold and silver. In keeping with the brand’s tradition of mixing old and new, the collection has a range of colored dials and textured leather straps—in 26-mm case styles, with three strap options for women in three colorways, or three mesh bracelet styles in gold, rose gold and silver with white dials.

Interchangeable straps

Men’s watches come in 34-mm case styles. The midnight blue dial paired with a croc-effect leather strap in black; there’s the black dial enclosed in rose gold case, and the classic white dial with gold case paired with tan leather strap with croc effect.

The Heritage Square has interchangeable strap features with quick-release clasp, and runs on Japanese quartz movement.

“These are inspired by modern watches but given a vintage streak. That is the romance and beauty of this brand—it reminds you of something similar, like your mother or grandfather’s watch,” said Peers Hardy International sales and marketing director Paul Harry. Peers Hardy International is one of UK’s leading independent watch distributors.

Henry London offers free engraving services to its customers. Write anything you want at the back of the watch; about 65 percent are messages of love, said Harry. As long as the text fits the space, they’ll engrave your message.

The brand and its engraving tradition came about when two watch designers stumbled on a market stall in Notting Hill that sold a vintage watch from the 1960s. The watch, with an engraved “Henry 1965” at the back, had a dome-shaped acrylic cover, built-in three hands, and leather strap. From that, they created Henry London.

“We decided to keep the engraving; there’s a real emotional connection in this watch,” Harry said. “Wear London your way, coupled with the positive emotion of love and gifting and messaging. No other brand is doing that.”

The Scandinavian minimalist look of Henry London

New line

Another new line is the Iconic Collection, a series of timepieces that’s been stripped down to their bare essentials, epitomizing the Scandinavian minimalist look. It has a minimalist dial and domed mineral glass lens but with a burst of color—sky blue, mint green, coral pink. Choose genuine leather straps or mesh bracelet styles in rose gold, gold or silver in a variety of metal finishes, from brushed to polished.

Also making their debut are 11 watches in the Heritage Automatic Collection, which runs on Japanese automatic movement and are luxury-inspired timepieces at affordable price points. With the dial kept simple with slimline hour batons, the open heart becomes the focal point of attention. The back of the watches is made of transparent glass case.

Henry London watches are available in all Wristpod, Swissgear, Landmark Makati and selected SM Department Store branches.
