MANILA – Selfies have become a valuable currency in expressing one’s self. With millions of it being posted on social media platforms, how do you ensure that your selfie will stand out among the rest?
OPPO, the number two mobile brand in the country, gives an answer to that. The smartphone company has introduced a groundbreaking technology during the official unveiling of the OPPO F5, the A.I. Beauty Recognition.
The imaging technology is designed to personalize one’s beautification based on personal facial traits of a subject, giving a customized selfie that is unique to every person.
“OPPO has yet again created an opportunity that will truly elevate everyone’s selfie experience,” said Stephen Cheng, Brand Marketing Manager, OPPO Philippines.
“The A.I. Beauty Recognition technology feature of the OPPO F5 allows anyone to take selfies that are not only crisp, but also natural-looking,” he added.
New generation of selfies
The magic of OPPO’s new technology lies behind the sophisticated processes that happen with every click.
OPPO’s A.I. Beauty Recognition technology learns the specific facial features of different people from its millions of global image database of human faces.
“The OPPO F5 will not only allow you to take the perfect selfie but will also understand your facial features accurately,” said Charles Ng, OPPO’s Product Expert. “With the AI technology and the facial first feature, your photos come out just right.”
To achieve this technology, OPPO tapped on professional photographers and make-up artists during the R&D process, resulting in the A.I. technology having the ability to make selfies look more attractive and natural.
One of the technology’s trademark features is being able to recognize the subject’s other characteristics, such as skin tone and type, gender and age and match them against its database and make beautification enhancements that are personalized for each individual in the selfie.
The A.I. can also analyze up to a million faces and with more than 200 facial feature spots scanned, it is able to detect one’s face in detail and refine one’s selfie more than just any other phones.
‘Capturing the real you’
The launch of the OPPO F5 was led by OPPO’s brand ambassadors Sarah Geronimo and Alden Richards, together with OPPO influencers Joshua Garcia, Julia Barretto, Toni Gonzaga, Gabbi Garcia, Janella Salvador, Apple David, and Carla Lizardo.
“Ever since I’ve used OPPO, I’ve been very impressed with the quality because of the super natural photos,” Sarah Geronimo said.
“So when they showed me the new F5, I was really amazed kasi mas naging maganda ang selfies ko. OPPO’s front cam has always been remarkable pero ngayon, it’s even much better because of OPPO’s latest A.I. Beauty Recognition technology,” she added.
Alden Richards also praised the smartphone’s sleek design, enabling him to capture his selfies with ease.
“Mas madali na mag-take ng selfies because of the sleek design plus full-screen display feature,” the OPPO brand ambassador said. “I was able to try the A.I. Beauty Recognition technology and I must say that my selfie really turned out great. It really captures the real you.”
More than just a selfie phone
The OPPO F5’s imaging technology is also paired with an impressive set of hardware and other features to maximize the user’s experience.
The F5 features a 20MP front camera with an F2.0 aperture and a 16MB rear camera with F1.8 aperture. Compared with other competitors’ 13MP or 16MP camera in the same price range, the F5 has a higher resolution (2160×1080) and better photo quality. The cameras can deliver Bokeh effects that blur the subject’s background, and the front camera’s HDR feature solves over-exposure issues.
The F5 is OPPO’s first 6.0-inch full-screen FHD+ display device, giving the user a vivid visual enjoyment without the need to increase the size of the phone. It also features a high-resolution 2160 x 1080 dpi screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. The 0.4mm laser string is also carved onto the phone – a delicate linear finish that adds detail to the phone body.
Following OPPO’s streamlined design philosophy, the F5’s sleek unibody offers a visually slim appearance without any cut-offs, with a gracefully curved body that fits well in the palm, allowing the user to use the phone for longer periods without exhausting his or her hand.
The F5 also comes with the Facial Unlock feature that recognizes its owner’s facial features to unlock the phone, making the device easier and quicker to access.
