“Me time” means more than massages at Marina Bay Spa and Lifestyle Club at the Mall of Asia complex. The wellness hub has a gym, buffet, a sunset pool bar—and videoke.
It’s a membership club that redefines relaxation through its luxurious amenities and services.
The Body and Soul Package, for one, aims to recharge through a crystal chakra massage, which makes use of colorful “cleansed” crystals, a quick facial and a head massage—all done in a private Cabin Area.
Individual treatment rooms feature pink Himalayan salt lamps, their soft light believed to promote healing and calm.
Marina Bay Spa, general manager Nenita Cabrera said, is the place for ultimate pampering. She recently showed us around the spa, which has an urban resort vibe.
“The spa is named after its location, since it’s near Manila Bay in Mall of Asia,” she explained. Marina Bay shares the same row as Vikings buffet, which is operated by the same team that opened Vikings as a dining destination.
Hot stone beds
Go early, because one can easily spend a full day at Marina Bay.
There are two dipping pools. The Hot Bath Spa takes care of muscle stiffness and fatigue, while the refreshing Cold Bath Spa awakens the senses.
A separate room called Ganban’Yoku is dedicated to hot stone beds, where one can lie down to ease back pains.
The Steam Room checks colds and congestion, while the wood-lined cabin sauna has dry heat that helps in detoxification.
For exfoliation, choose from the all-natural Hydrating Coconut Scrub, Zesty Salt Scrub and Detoxifying Green Tea Scrub. Massages are done with moisturizing almond oil, which is light and fragrant on the skin.
Marina Bay Spa and Lifestyle Club offers three kinds of membership packages, all inclusive of 10-percent off on all spa services.
Shell, worth P60,000, is valid for six months, and gives members P7,500 worth of spa vouchers.
For annual memberships, there’s Pearl, priced at P90,000, which includes P15,000 worth of spa vouchers; and Coral, worth P270,000, with P45,000 worth of spa vouchers.
Cabrera wants yuppies and Filipino-Chinese families to sign up as for the packages. One member can bring up to four guests to enjoy the facilities.
Exclusive perks for members include full access to the spa and the mini theater with plush reclining seats.
Personal training can be scheduled at the fitness center, which offers yoga, Pilates and resistance training.
Some spa services are available for walk-in guests.
Marina Bay’s mini buffet menu is done by Vikings, so one can have a fill of soup and salad, or a real meal, since the spread includes rice and roasts.
Aside from the spa and snacks, perhaps the best part of Marina Bay is the second level “entertainment area” with a pool table and two mahjong tables. Two KTV rooms with touch-screen menu and wireless microphones also await guests who want to chill with a cocktail.
