Nothing says “Christmas spirit” quite like bright lights and Christmas songs—and this is exactly what Nuvali’s Magical Field of Lights has to offer.

With nifty technology from Nuvali’s engineers and designers, lights dance to the beats of Christmas favorites like “Ang Pasko ay Sumapit” and “Kumukutikutitap”.

To make the most of your time with your loved ones, here are some ways you can get the best experience in the Field of Lights.

Know when and where the light show happens.

From Nov. 11, 2017, to Jan. 7, 2018, the light show happens every 30 minutes from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. If you miss a show, it won’t be long until the next round.

Head to The Fields, the football field next to Ayala Malls Solenad. A stony footpath leads you to a bright Christmas light installation, which consists of tall dandelion lights, Christmas trees in various LED light colors, and a light tunnel.

A few meters away, just past a few football stands is the main event, consisting of 5,000 LED tulips.

Wear festive clothes and comfortable footwear.
Since the venue is a football field, shoes that you’re comfortable in would allow you to better enjoy picture-taking. The LED tulips are also grouped in clusters, so you can walk and pose among them in the field.

Tip: get that Instagram-worthy bokeh effect inside the 25-meter light tunnel.

Be patient.
You might have caught the tail-end of the last show and a large crowd prevents you from viewing it. Don’t worry. Just wait for a few minutes after the crowd disperses to take pictures of the field of lights before the next show.

Tip: if you’ll watch from the sidelines, there’ll be fewer people, and you’ll still get a good view.

Use a ring light while taking pictures.

While the lights make for a pretty spectacle, getting the right lighting is a bit difficult. Shine a light on faces to make sure that you aren’t just getting silhouettes.

Put your phone down.
There are a few good reasons to do this: For one, seeing phone screens in the air ruins the view. You’ll also remember the show better when your attention isn’t split between recording and watching.

You’ve taken all the pictures of the lights and your loved ones from every possible angle. So when the Christmas music starts to play, that’s your cue to keep your phone and enjoy the show.

Other activities you can enjoy in Nuvali are a Christmas Fair with local artisanal goods, bazaars in Solenad, and Nightsky Cinema with its outdoor movie screening.

Nightsky Cinema has viewings under the stars on Nov. 25, Dec. 2, 3 and 16. JB
