My go-to after-party cleansers

La Mer Cleansing Oil

December has just begun, but parties have started to roll out like a Christmas spread waiting to be devoured.

I’ve talked about the many ways to preen for those parties. (Are your metallic lids and extra dose of shoe sparkle ready?) Now I feel it’s just as important to tackle recovery skincare after a long night of boozing and dancing.

It all starts with a trusty cleanser that does the job of ridding the face of gunk and babying the skin just in case your hangover won’t let you get past step one of this nightly ritual.

My favorites in this category are usually infused with pampering technology, and blends of oils and extracts that could fill in temporarily for my nightly serums.

Thorough cleanse

Double cleansing is your friend. What people once thought as a high-maintenance measure for the obsessive compulsive is now an extremely thorough way to ensure your skin is truly clean.

For those who don’t mind the slickness of oil cleansers, La Mer
Cleansing Oil is one to consider. Loaded with nutritious minerals courtesy of the brand’s mythical Miracle Broth, this detoxifying cleanser transforms into a satisfying, milky fluid that coats the skin and effectively removes layers of makeup.

But if you don’t fancy the thick and messy application, grab the La Prairie Cellular Cleansing Water for the eyes and face. This refreshing tonic has a lightweight but effective formula for removing face makeup in just a few swipes with a cotton pad.

The best thing about this is you don’t even have to rinse after! Great news for the lazy ones like me.

Something for everyone

Oily-skinned folks can check out the Estée Lauder Nutritious Micro-Algae Pore Purifying Cleansing Jelly. Its gel texture removes makeup particles thoroughly, and helps control oil without drying your skin thanks to its cucumber, coneflower and ginseng extracts.

I occasionally like my cleansers foamy, so, on some days, I’d recommend using the Estée Lauder Soft Clean Moisture Rich Foaming Cleanser. This luxurious cream foams into a moisture-rich lather that cleans, calms and soothes skin. It is infused with passion flower and edelweiss so dry skin can feel youthful and supple again.
