Benjie Cabangis’ artistic oeuvre reflects his relentless practice of exploring visual possibilities while grounding it with a vision to expand abstract language.

Cabangis starts with colors that later develop into images that trace spaces seemingly tethered in reality. The resulting images bear semblance to familiar but vaguely represented objects, images and structures as if recreating overlap- ping memories or a recollection of moments seen all at once.

In “Vicinities,” Cabangis explores of visual dimensions through the use of muted and neutral colors to great effect.

In his Neighborhood series, geometric figures seem to approximate architectural structures.

In the works of Cabangis, patterns and textures embody topographical and landscape contexts; glazes of colors and overlapping fraction of images parallel the conditions of the environment; and the final images foreshadow life’s uncertainty and complexity.

“Vicinities,” Benjie Cabangis 25th solo exhibit, is running at the Underground , 2/L, Makati Cinema Square, Chino Roces Avenue, Makati City.
