As the popular Spice Girls song “Wannabe” blared full blast from the speakers of the newest Bench store on Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Brooklyn Beckham paused from what he was doing and tilted his head with a bemused expression.
On Jan. 13, Beckham, eldest son of soccer star David Beckham and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, met up with fans to sign copies of “What I See”
—his own book of photographs.
The 18-year-old global Bench model flew in from London to cut the ribbon for the formal opening of the Bench branch in BGC where the book signing was also held.
The three-story building houses the clothing line on the ground floor, Bench Café on the second floor and Bench Barbers and Bench Fix Salon on the third floor.
The ground floor also has a Design Bar, where customers can bring life to a plain T-shirt with vintage patches, stickers and embroidery.
Beckham himself went to the Design Bar to customize his own shirt.
Maxine Velasquez, an avid Beckham fan, was beaming. “He was really willing to talk to people and he even hugged one of the fans,” she said. “Good to see his parents raised a nice young man.”
