Unique accents that are easy to make
Unique accents that are easy to make

Take advantage of the cool weather by entertaining outdoors while you can. For special romantic or intimate effects, illuminate empty wine bottles with firefly lights you can make yourself! This is an easier version than the one where you’d have to cut off the bottom of the bottle, which can be tricky.

The basics

So drink up, and save the cork, too, if you can!

You will need:
1 empty wine bottle and cork, if possible
1 set fairy lights, battery operated. Fiber optic ones are best for the firefly effect.
Black electrical tape
Scissors

Procedure:
1) Tape the control box, which also holds the batteries, to the bottom of the bottle with the black electrical tape.

2) Work the lights in a straight line up to the mouth of the bottle, and insert the rest of its length inside. Tape the outside wire in a straight line to keep in place.

3) Test your lights.

4) If you have the cork, trim the sides to fit the wire, and insert back into the opening.

5) If you have no cork, use the black tape around the opening to make it look like a sealed bottle.
