What to eat in the Year of the Yellow Dog–according to your birth sign

Master Aldric Dalumpines eating his way to prosperity

In just a few weeks, we are to welcome the Year of the Dog.

A way to harness good tidings is by having auspicious food tailored to one’s Chinese zodiac sign. Your luck is what you eat, according to feng shui master Aldric Dalumpines, who encourages us to prepare for the arrival of the Yellow Dog.

“Preparedness makes one very lucky,” Dalumpines says. This is his lucky food guide. Eating this way beckons good health, good luck and prosperity.

“These recommendations have good health as its core intention, as health is wealth in feng shui,” Dalumpines adds. “It is also a list that promotes wellbeing and vitality for each sign.”

Partake of the food recommendations at least once, between the eve of Feb. 15 and two weeks after the New Year (the duration of the observance of Chinese New Year).

The Lucky Food Guide contains exotic entries served in countries where feng shui is observed.

In feng shui, eating food for luck is anchored on two rules: “Never partake of your kind and of your opposing sign.”

As an example, “Roosters should best avoid chicken meat and chicken products. They must also veer away from the consumption of rabbit meat and products, even those with a logo or a label of rabbit” as the rabbit is the rooster’s opposing sign.

“This is hardcore food feng shui, followed by disciplined adherents in Asia and worldwide,” Dalumpines says.

Eating based on your sign

Rat (born 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1996, 2008): Egg congee, especially with yellow egg yolk. Egg-laced rice porridge helps in becoming more creative in investing. Avoid rat or horse meat.

Ox (1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009): Butter-roasted or fried chicken. Helps in gaining more income from varied sources. Avoid beef and lamb or goat meat.

Tiger (1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010): Long-cooked pork belly with preserved mustard. This attracts opportunity and love life. Avoid tiger meat or Tiger beer as well as gourmet monkey brains or dishes.

Rabbit (1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011): Any curried dish except chicken-based, to help achieve energetic well-being at work and play.

Dragon (1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012): Chicken curry or lemon butter fried chicken, which counters the negative vibes of dragons this year. Avoid dog meat.

Snake (1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013): Pineapple fried rice, to welcome prosperity into your life. Avoid any pork or snake dish.

Horse (1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014): Lamb or goat dish, which makes travel profitable and prosperous. Avoid rat meat, horse meat and Red Horse beer.

Sheep (1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015): Chicken or pork dish curried or with yellow ginger, to attract sales and collections. Avoid goat or lamb meat as well as beef.

Monkey (1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016): Lamb or goat dish with curry or yellow ginger side dish, which generates greater cash flow in business and investments. Avoid tiger meat or monkey brains.

Rooster ( 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017): Any fish dish cooked any way as long as it has yellow sidings or garnish, be it vegetables or sauce. This brings greater wealth accumulation. Avoid chicken products and rabbit meat.

Dog (1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018): Any rabbit meat dish with yellow ginger garnishing is best, to quell “tsong” or bad luck for the year. Avoid arowana fish dish or dragon fruit and dog meat. Hotdog is fine.

Pig ( 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007): Any goat meat or lamb meat dish with curry or yellow ginger, to boost personal wealth attraction. Avoid any pork and snake dish.

Safe side

Note that if you complement your lucky zodiac food with any yellow food garnishing or sidings or drinks, the luckier you will be, as yellow (earth element) is the color of Earth Dog 2018.

To be on the safe side, Dalumpines urges those with health issues to consult their doctor, as even lucky food may be dangerous to your health.

Also, to welcome the New Year at home, arrange eight round, sweet fruits and a pineapple to welcome double prosperity for the year of the Yellow Dog. Set the eight fruits with pineapple on the dining table or any center/buffet table.

In the office, prepare the same in the office pantry or reception center table. Do this on Feb. 13 or, at the very latest, Feb. 15.
