Valentine shows: Lolita Carbon at Manila Hotel; José Mari Chan, Bellevue; South Border, SM Bicutan | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Lolita Carbon doing a Valentine dinner-show? “Once in a blue moon lang ito,” the singer-songwriter told us, adding that she never did one even during her days with her famous folk-rock group Asin.

The show, “Himig ng Pag-ibig: A Lolita Carbon Valentine Special,” will be held on Feb. 14 at the grand ballroom of Manila Hotel. Special guests are Noli Aurillo and the Metro Manila Concert Orchestra.

Asked if she prepared a special repertoire for the occasion, Carbon said the audience will hear songs she doesn’t always perform. And then she proceeded to ask Aurillo to play a sample, the Juan Silos Jr./Levi Celerio classic, “Basta’t Mahal Kita.”

The show’s title is taken from the 1979 album and song of the same name. Carbon herself wrote the song at a time when she was living in domestic bliss with radio DJ Bob Magoo and their twin sons Derek and Blue.

Though she’s single now, Carbon said she’s happy being able to do what she loves most—playing music.

Tickets go for P888 (show) and P3,088 with dinner.
