Last February 13, the Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau (TCVB) held a short press conference with members of the media to discuss the latest developments that await travelers in Tokyo this 2018.

The new logo and slogan invites everyone to see the beauty in the old and the new Tokyo
2017 gave Filipino travelers a glimpse of what the Japanese culture can offer when they were introduced to the campaign, & Tokyo. This year, they’ll get to better appreciate both the historical and the contemporary side of Japanese culture and society with the new Tokyo logo and slogan, “Old Meets New.”
The logo combines traditional Japanese calligraphy with a modern-looking font. It also contains elements to signify certain aspects of the Tokyo heritage. The traditional red stamp for instance, refers to the numerous historical landmarks visitors can look into during their trip to Tokyo.
The “Old Meets New” slogan, on the other hand, encourages visitors to see the progression and essence of Tokyo that makes it a city worth traveling to.
New commercial facilities are set to release this 2018
TCVB representative Maiko Iwaki explains to the press that these coming months of 2018, new and improved commercial facilities will be installed in Shibuya. Among the improvements is the Shibuya Stream, a modern transportation system designed to ease traveling for locals and tourists alike.
Increased hotel accommodations await visitors
One thing Filipino travelers no longer have to worry about is accommodation. Since last year, the city of Tokyo has increased its availability of hotel rooms to ease booking troubles and accommodate the growing number of visitors to the country.
See the new Unicorn Gundam statue in Odaiba
Last year, news spread of the destruction of the Gundam statue in Odaiba. But to the surprise of many locals and tourists, the old statue was replaced by the “RX-0 Unicorn Gundam.”
Going to Tokyo will give you the opportunity to witness the intricate details and craftsmanship of the towering Unicorn Gundam statue.
More multilingual services will be made available to tourists
Finally, communicating with the locals in the city will be made much easier with the multilingual services made available for tourists.
Visitors can avail of Tokyo’s telecommunication service to correspond with the locals. They may also use the digital signages to translate certain phrases and words to Japanese.
