While there are Filipino women who are obsessed with whitening products and the quest for fairer skin, there are also ladies out there who revel in the beauty of natural brown skin.
Let’s make 2018 the year of the morena! They say when you love the skin you’re in, people around you will love you too.

Here are tips on how to enhance our natural tan using products from SM Beauty counters.

Complexion perfection

Most of the foundation shades available in the country promise a fairer finish. The problem is, a majority of Filipino women belong to the yellow undertone category.

I used Nyx Total Control Foundation on Camille. Its light-to-medium coverage is perfect for a day-to-night look. Use a concealer to mask and spot-correct, not highlight or contour, which leaves you with a cakey look. And pick a shade that matches the color of your neck.

Brown-eyed beauty

Don’t let your dark skin stop you from trying colors. For this look, I used Features & Shades Single Eyeshadow in Lavender Dream to highlight her lovely brown eyes. I then used Eye of Horus pencil eyeliner in black for definition and smudged it upwards to create a soft cat-eye effect. Lastly, I filled her brows with faint strokes using Eye of Horus Liner in Brown.

Just glow with it

Meant to give you a dreamy glow, highlighters are best used on the highest points of your face, your collarbone and even your shoulders and legs. For this look, I used Ofra Cosmetics in Rodeo and applied it with a fluffy blending brush on the bridge of her nose, a bit on her chin, her upper cheeks and her collarbone.

Bronze winner

Sun-kissed celebs Ylona Garcia, Lovi Poe and Iza Calzado all swear by bronzer. The ever-reliable Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze does triple duty as a bronzer, eyeshadow and even highlighter. For this look, I assigned the darker shades to her eyes, dabbing lightest in the inner corners to make them pop. The really pretty, bronzy glow on her cheeks is a combination of all shades.
