The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is touring the Philippine architecture exhibit, “Loob at Labas: Talakayan at Pagpaparangya,” this March.
Mounted by the NCCA National Committee on Architecture and Allied Arts with the ArkiCamp Heritage FilAsia Inc., “Loob at Labas” is a traveling exhibition with lectures and workshops. It was launched on National Arts Month (NAM) in February.
A sub-exhibit is “Luntiang Pook,” which is on landscape design, by the Philippine Association of Landscape Architects.
‘Retaso’ show
Another sub-exhibit is on interior design. “Habang May Retaso, May Trabaho” is mounted by the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers. It shows how functional pieces can be crafted from retaso or scrap materials, such as fabric/textile and wood.
Meanwhile, the Council of Interior Design Educators is mounting “Laman + Loob,” an exhibit which shows how waste materials may be upcycled into home decor and accessories.
Also exhibited are winners of Haligi ng Dangal, the annual NCCA award for architecture, interiors, decor, industrial design, landscape and related fields.
“Loob at Labas” also features NCCA publications on Philippine architecture and urban planning such as “Siglo 20,” “Deco Decoded: Art Deco in the Philippines” and “Espasyo 7.”
The Visayas leg of “Labas at Loob” is now running at the University of San Agustin until March 16.
