Once the Miss International competition is over, beauty queen Ma. Ahtisa Manalo says she wants to join the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The beauty queen from Candelaria, Quezon told the media on Wednesday that she believes being a member of the country’s police force can be “a platform for change.”

“After Miss International, I’m going to pursue my other dream… to be a police officer. As of now, my priority is Miss International, pero after that, (it’s going to be) being a police officer. Why not?” Ahtisa said.

“I want to make change. This (being a police officer) is also a platform of change. Dito kasi, you really get in touch with people’s lives… you get to save lives, ikaw ‘yung mag-e-enforce ng peace sa community,” she said.

Ahtisa, an Accountancy graduate from the Manuel S. Enverge University Foundation, said she prefers a “challenging life” working in the field as a law enforcer.

“Ever since kasi n’ung bata pa ako, ‘yun na talaga ang (isa sa mga) gusto kong gawin,” the newly-crowned Miss International Philippines said. “Gusto ko rin maging part ng Charlie’s Angels, pero hindi naman kasi talaga pwede,” she jokingly said.

“Gusto ko challenging lagi ‘yung buhay ko. What more pa ‘yung makakapagpa-challenge sa’yo kaysa (pagiging) pulis,” she said.

As Binibining Pilipinas International 2018, Ahtisa will be aiming for the country’s seventh Miss International crown in Japan later this year.
