Ex-Miss Japan wears Joel Escober, made up by a Bhuddist priest

A woman who wears the designs of fast-rising designer Joel Escober is usually someone who exudes confidence, is modern, stylish yet elegant, but shows it only subtly.

Here, Escober does his signature floral appliqués—simply what this bland summer needs to perk up its days, as the barometer rises. (What happened to the breeze? Gone suddenly.)

This is why a perfect choice for this shoot is Miss Japan 2008, who’s now national director of Miss Japan’s representation in the Miss Universe, Hiroko Mima.

Her new advocacy now is the empowerment of women not only in Japan, but also the world over.

To do her makeup, we tapped the renowned Japanese makeup artist Kodo Nishimura, a Shinto priest—yes, you read right.

Accessories are by Cebu designer Doro Barandino.

Indeed, this is a celebration of the artisanship of two cultures.
