They clinched the Top Social Artist award at the Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) last year. They have been nominated for the same award again this year. They will return to Las Vegas to attend the awards show and to take the stage as well.
It was confirmed last night, April 24, that BTS—or Bulletproof Boys (Bangtan Sonyeondan)—is set to perform alongside Camilla Cabello, Dua Lipa and Shawn Mendes, which were announced as the first set of acts in the awards show.
After the cryptic tweet of the group after the announcement of their nomination, this would be their debut stage for the said award show. The group is no stranger to international awards show performances as they were also performers for last year’s American Music Awards.
ARMYs’ (the fandom) anticipation heightened when the BBMA producer Mike Mahan, also posted this cryptic tweet in reply to a fan’s question regarding the group’s participation in the show.
The group recently reached another social media milestone as their music video “DNA” is now the most viewed video from a K-Pop group on YouTube. It has surpassed Big Bang’s “Fantastic Baby.” As of press time, “DNA” is nearing the 350 million views mark.
BTS’ comeback date is set on May 18th and the Billboard Music Awards is set on May 21st here at 5a.m. on NBC.
