‘Hi-Lites’—it’s what Camila Cabello and Gerald Anderson have in common

Camila Cabello’s “Havana,” her earworm single inspired by Latin beats, peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100. Her eponymous album released in January is a chart topper in over 100 countries. And, admit it or not, the lyrics of “Bad Things,” her collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly, is still fresh in your mind.

During the 2018 Grammy Awards, the 21-year-old daughter of Cuban-Mexican immigrants voiced her support for the children of illegal immigrants at risk of deportation in the United States.

“I’m here on this stage tonight because, just like the dreamers, my parents brought me to this country with nothing in their pockets but hope,” she said. “They showed me what it means to work twice as hard and never give up. And honestly, no part of my journey is any different from theirs.”

This 2018 is Cabello’s year and she’s only getting started. The former Fifth Harmony member and now Skechers ambassador has launched a collection of shoes as shiny as her trophies and platinum record award.

Camila Cabello Hi-Lites collection has 12 pairs to choose from; it consists of chunky metallics, high-cut silhouettes, slip-ons and polished pink shoes with oversized shoelaces.

Block Poppers

Liquid Bling stands out, literally, with its rose-gold sheen. If you’re into subtler “KOTD” (kicks of the day), step into the white low-top Medal Toes with a rose gold eyelet.

Low-top Metallics has a gold-and-black upper and chunky white heels, while Slick Shoes in light pink works for both day and night.

Put your best foot forward (whether you’re in Havana or Manila) with high-cut sneakers in bold colors. Block Rockers has a white upper with baby pink accent and laces. Block Poppers come in two versions—black with silver eyelet and red and green accent, and white with silver eyelet and red and pink lining.

The entire collection has Skechers Air-Cooled Memory foam insoles to make every step comfortable.

Trinoma’s activity center was transformed into a Havana pueblo (there was a yellow vintage car parked near the runway, burritos and quesadilla were served) for the launch of Skechers’ Camila Cabello Hi-Lites.

Local celebs

Local celebrities Gerald Anderson, Maris Racal, Diane Medina walked on the runway wearing sneakers from the Hi-Lites collection, as well as Skechers wedge sandals.

Anderson said the black Skechers Rough Cut pair was a constant travel staple. The sporty slip-ons had mesh fabric upper, good for walking and working out.

“The pair has no laces, which made it easy for me to go through airport security,” Anderson said before the show started. He looked laid-back in a pink “Madonna” cotton tee, a souvenir from his recent trip.

For the fashion show, Anderson changed into a bespoke patterned suit paired with black Skechers Hi-Lites Hoagie, a casual vintage court-style kicks in smooth leather.
