Essential oils for air freshener, all-purpose cleaner

Aromatic blend of essential oil and baking soda

Haven’t worked with essential oils before? Aside from using them as natural healing aids, here are some home remedies you may want to try which are quite effective and stylish as well.

Let’s start with something as simple as an air refresher.

You will need:
Baking soda
For essential oil, we used pure orange oil from Marrakech (Young Living is a brand to try).
Clear empty jar with cover (we’ve also added a silver-plated creamer)
Fork
Tea light candle, optional

Fill your jar or any other container you prefer with baking soda to almost a third full.

Add a few drops of essential oil, approximately 6-8 drops.

Mix in the oil with a fork, making sure the baking soda is free of clumps.

To control the fragrance, replace cover.

To boost the smell, give the powder a good shake or mix it with a fork.

You can also add a tea light candle at the center for a dual effect. The heat from the candle will make the scent more pungent.

Tip: In a pretty container, like this silver-plated creamer, your air freshener will look even nicer.

An added essential home remedy we’ve tried and tested is this all-purpose surface cleaner.

You’ll need:
Equal parts water and distilled white vinegar with a few drops of essential oil to counter the strong vinegar scent.

Put in a small spray bottle, and keep it handy for cleanup before and after food prep in shared spaces.
