In celebration of the National Heritage Month and the work of women artists, the National Museum will hold a workshop on printmaking with some of the country’s top female print artists as instructors.
According to an invitation from the National Museum, the Women in Art Printmaking Workshop is a one-day affair, with Ambie Abano and Yasmin Doctor of the Association of Pinoy printmakers (AP) teaching the basics of printmaking.
It encouraged the public to learn the basics in Printmaking at the National Museum in a one-day workshop on May 24 (Thursday). “Create simple monotype prints and rubbercut prints with color enhancements as demonstrated by notable women printmakers,” it added.
The activity is also in line with the on-going exhibition “Shifts in Context,” which features the work of internationally acclaimed print artist Ofelia Gelvezon-Tequi.
The National Museum said that limited slots are available, and interested individuals would have to pre-register through an online registration form from May 14 to 22. Regular registration costs P500, but female participants are given a P100 discount.
Aside from the lecture, the National Museum would provide meals, workshop materials, and a walk-through of the Shifts in Context exhibition.
The workshop will be held on May 24, at the Claro M. Recto Function Hall of the National Museum for Fine Arts (Old Congress Building). For inquiries, parties may contact Ms. Carole Duque at 527-1219 or at 09561321049.
