Tropical and nautical prints for a summer home

Botanicals, nautical prints, and muted colors are recommended for the home in Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids’ 2018 summer collections.

The bright colors, intricate patterns and fun shapes of Del Sol melamine are back. A big hit when it was introduced last year, the melamine collection design is reminiscent of Mediterranean getaways. The patterns resemble hand-painted ceramics and can dress up any table, whether for casual or formal get-togethers.

Tropical prints and natural materials like rattan, wicker and bamboo can update spaces with pops of green—leaves, trees, plants.

Pottery Barn also has faux potted areca palm, sago palm and orchids as accents for living or dining areas, with other pieces such as palm-printed melamine plates or Kai leaf pillow covers.

There are also accents in wood, such as the lovely Kali bar cart or Kelly wooden palm lantern, to create a country summer house vibe. The bedrooms or guest rooms would look good with the white June bed for a breezy ambiance.

Lounge in style.

For the outdoors, there’s the Cammeray collection, a low-back sofa with airy, open-weave design, perfect for lounging or dining al fresco. This collection has colors with nautical themes.

Driftwood finishes

Island chic and coastal themes are big, too. There are soft-denim, sun-bleached colors, and driftwood finishes. Different textures, such as distressed wood and natural fibers with polished-nickel, glass, and Carrara marble, can be layered.

Pieces from the Tanner, Alexandra, and Ivy Table Collection add rustic elegance.

Or, one can opt for a nautical theme with stripes and white and blue hues in throw pillows, candleholders and vases.

More outdoor furniture to complement a coastal-theme home is found in the Hampstead and Indio living and dining collections.

Pottery Barn likewise has a collection of rugs in hues inspired by the sea. The rugs come in natural or synthetic fiber wool, with geometric designs or Moroccan-inspired patterns.

Pottery Barn Kids has more muted, floral colors. There are soft classic beach towels and bath wraps in animal, mermaid and unicorn prints, as well as plates and utensils like the Bamboozle eco-friendly plates made from 70-percent biodegradable bamboo.

Decorative accents, from faux potted plants to faux candles

Pottery Barn has the Catalina stair loft bed and the Lifeguard tower loft bed for children, bunk beds designed for sleep and play. The classic bed board is versatile, fit for a bedroom or a study.

They are kid-friendly, too. The Catalina has lathe-turned legs, solid wood bun feet, and oversized wooden knobs designed for small hands.

The Lifeguard tower has room for twin mattress, with safety features such as roofs and guardrails.

Pottery Barn is at Central Square, Bonifacio High Street Central; 4/L, Rustan’s Makati; 3/L, Rustan’s Tower Shangri-La; and at Estancia in Capitol Commons. Pottery Barn Kids is at Central Square in Bonifacio High Street Central; 3/L, Rustan’s Tower Shangri-La; and Estancia in Capitol Commons.
