5 Super things to do with your dad | Lifestyle.INQ

Watch “The Staircase.” The 13-part docuseries chronicles the mysterious death of Kathleen Peterson and the trial of Michael Peterson who was accused of murdering his wife. It sounds like an odd choice for a father-and-kid binge-bonding session but you’ll be surprised. While it is about one man’s seemingly endless battle with the American justice system, it is also about family ties and the unwavering faith and love of his children. “I can look at my children and think, yeah, they love me. What else do you want?” Michael says in one clip. Pop some popcorn, grab a few drinks, log into Netflix and get ready for an interesting and emotional ride.

Eat lobster mac and cheese. Bun Appetit, who makes our favorite lobster roll, will be having a popup at Prominent Manila (49 Scout Alcaraz St., Banawe, Quezon City) on Sunday, from 12 noon to 8 p.m. They’re serving something new: lobster mac and cheese. It’s cheesy, truffle-y and loaded with generous chunks of delicious Maine lobster. Each order is P795 ad here’s a warning: it’s so good you might not want to share. So get your dad his own. Bun Appetit is serving their classics too: lobster, crab and shrimp rolls and grilled cheese.

Share your music. Whether you’d like to admit it or not, your father’s listening choices when you were growing up helped shape your taste in music (which is probably why we have a soft spot for Johnny Mathis). It’s time to return the favor. Create a Spotify playlist for him (yep, this generation’s mix tape). And if you’re feeling generous, get him some earphones to go with your mix.

Go for a run. If your dad keeps swearing he’s going to start exercising but keeps putting it off, it’s time to motivate him. Ask him to go for a run with you. And if that’s not enough motivation, maybe a brand new pair of running shoes will do the trick. We’re loving Nike’s Epic React Flyknit —it’s super light and flexible, lets your feet breathe, offers great cushioning and comes in a number of stylish colorways.

Grab a few drinks. Take your dad to your favorite bar and have a few rounds with him. But don’t drink and drive.
