Record producer Steve Lillywhite, a six-time Grammy winner whose name appears in more than 500 records, including albums by U2, Peter Gabriel, the Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews, the Killers, and the Pogues, will join the roster of mentors at the 2018 Elements Music Camp, which will be held from August 26 to 30 at the Discovery Suites in Ortigas Center.

Elements, whose first music camp was held November 2010 in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, is a series of workshops that aims to bring together aspiring and professional artists to share, learn, and promote Filipino music. Originally envisioned to be an annual event for five years, it went on until 2015.

For 2018, it has partnered with Globe Live and tweaked its program. This time, it aims to discover Filipino artists with songs that can break into the international market.

“We will create the pipeline for those songs,” said former record label executive Twinky Lagdameo, who cofounded Elements with maestro Ryan Cayabyab and businessman and music buff Jun Sy.

Lagdameo pointed out that this year’s Elements Music Camp will be more intimate since only 10 campers will participate. Each one will train with other top foreign and local music professionals throughout the sessions for five days.

Aside from Lillywhite, the other mentors include Bernard Harvey (producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist known for his work with Justin Bieber), Tuo Clark (one half of The Internz production team who has worked also with Bieber, as well as Greyson Chance, Boyz II Men and Ludacris), Ferry Corsten (DJ and record producer who has landed on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll), and Bassie “Blue” Hamilton (another producer who has worked with Bieber).

Joining them as co-mentors are Filipino record producers and musicians Jimmy Antiporda, Jungee Marcelo, Jay Durias, Jonathan Manalo, Thyro Alfaro, Ebe Dancel, Audie Gemora, Gabby Alipe, Jazz Nicolas, and Quest.

Aspirants have until August 3 to apply. They are encouraged to bring songs of any genre in English.
