TAGUIG CITY — Mutya ng Bohol Pauline Amelinckx romped away with two awards, including the Best in Terno title, during the 2018 Mutya ng Pilipinas Terno Competition held at the Ascott BGC on Tuesday night.

She also received the Mutya ng Camera Club of the Philippines award, while her terno by Mikee Andrei was chosen as one of the five best designs of the evening.

The Best Terno Designer award will be given in the finals.

In the Swimsuit and Evening Gown Competitions held on Sept. 10, also at the Ascott BGC, the 21-year-old tourism officer was proclaimed Mutya ng Mags, given by pageant sponsor Mags Clothing.

And during the Sept. 8 Talent Competition held at Sol Y Viento Pansol Resort in Laguna, she was chosen by the contest’s venue partner as one of its five ambassadors.

Sultan Kudarat’s Sharifa Akeel placed second to Amelinckx for Best in Terno, followed by Mary Justine Teng from Muntinlupa City.

The two ladies’ gowns by Jay-R Flores and Sonny Boy Mindo, respectively, were also among the five best designs of the evening.

Nina Ancheta from the Filipino community of Los Angeles, California, meanwhile, bagged two corporate awards – Mutya ng Herman Miller and Mutya Smile by Lito Sy.

Taguig’s Aya Fernandez was proclaimed Mutya ng Aposento, while Patricia Robles from Antipolo City and Marseilaise Perkins from the Filipino community of East Coast Canada were both chosen as Mutya Sagip Anghel Ambassadors.

The Mutya ng Pilipinas pageant is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with 50 delegates from around the country and different overseas Filipino communities.

The contest will choose the country’s representatives to the Miss Asia Pacific International, Miss Tourism International, Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International, and Miss Global Beauty Queen pageants.

The grand coronation night will be staged at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Sept. 16, with a telecast by ABS-CBN on the same evening.
