One physician assistant has warmed the hearts of people the world over as videos of him dancing with young patients surfaced online.
Tony Adkins, who works at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County in California as a neurosurgery physician assistant, shares videos of him busting impressive moves with the kids at the pediatric neurosurgical department.
In a video he posted last Sept. 1, Adkins can be seen dancing with a young girl during a visit at the hospital.
“One of my girls stopped by for a little Banda stretch,” shared Adkins. “This little lady once couldn’t talk or walk after surgery. Look at her now. She has the [eyes of a tiger].”
Adkins’ dancing videos have since gone viral, paving the way for him to appear in television shows to bring his message to people even closer. It’s simple enough: Adkins just wants to spread fun and laughter among the children he works with. Laughter, as the saying goes, truly is the best medicine.
“I can’t explain how much this means to me. My family and I have been through so much, but yet we push forward. Laughter and having fun with my little buddies is one of the best dose of medicine ever,” shared Adkins on his Facebook last Sept. 4.
Adkins further shared that he sees the “worst things that can possibly take place for a kid” in neurosurgery, which is why he takes every opportunity he has with them to uplift their spirits. In Adkins’ case, through dance.
“I have been blessed with a sound mind and heart to uplift these little kids,” he said. “Each one of them gets a special treatment from me all the time. They are my inspiration and my motivation to be the best provider I can be.” JB
