A North Carolina man won $200,000 (around P10.8 million) in the local lottery, thanks to a run at McDonald’s for his kids.

Edward Rackley hit the jackpot at the North Carolina Education Lottery’s Back Scratch ticket. He first bought the ticket from a local store on Saturday, Sept. 8. He then went to the drive-through of the fast food chain to buy dinner.

“I had ordered 50 chicken nuggets and four plain hamburgers,” Rackley said. “I figured while I was waiting, I might as well start scratching.”

As soon as he scratched the ticket, he could not believe his luck as the numbers appeared. Rackley even sought the help of one of the restaurant’s clerks to check the ticket for him. The clerk confirmed that, indeed, he was seeing “$200,000.”

Rackley then claimed his prize on Monday, Sept. 10. He plans to use his winnings on supporting his kids and fixing up the car. “I know one thing, Santa will be good to them this year,” he said of his children.
