Students of SoFa Design Institute look forward to presenting their works in the school’s annual graduation showcase. The show offers a glimpse of the students’ talents and potentials.
To be You checked out some of the collection and the stories behind their creations.
‘Voyage’
Jekka Maria Sison says her work, “Voyage,” depicts her journey in a series of personal experiences. It took her four to five weeks to finish her origami-inspired collection, which she says, captures her self-doubt and desire for achievement.
Realizing it’s the journey that matters more than the destination, she says that to discover and pursue what one truly wants, the person must move forward feeling grateful for being alive to attain it.
Inspiration
Before starting work on their graduation collection, the students were encouraged to get inspiration from their own life stories.
Tyffanie Domingo says her weave bandage dresses represent phases in her life that made her the person she is today. “The silhouettes I chose are body-forming, to highlight the womanly form, which represent strength,” she explains.
After school, she wants to hone her skills in dressmaking. She’s thinking of developing “a brand that is sustainable and has social responsibility.”
