Spoiler alert: ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ will rock you

Take it from these local artists, who, as music makers themselves, related to the rise and fall of Freddie Mercury, rock ‘n’ roll legend. Super asked these OPM artists their reactions to the two-hour killer Queen biopic directed by Bryan Singer.

“Parang self reflection ’yung nangyari. We saw ourselves in the film. The lifestyle, the arguments, almost everything except the substance abuse. We don’t do that. [More on arguments like] creative difference, which makes the band effective, right? When someone ignores the suggestion that’s where the magic happens.  ’Pag sinunod boring.”

I love it. I cried in some parts and the sound was awesome. I cried in the part where he (Freddie Mercury) made up with his dad and the part where he was talking to “Love of My  Life” and he realized there’s no one (in his life) except for her.

I love the movie. I’m a Queen fan but I didn’t know their story. I know of their music very very well kasi my older cousins listened to them… ’di ko generation, a little bit older lang, ’70s sila. (starts singing) I’m a rocketship on my way to Mars/On a collision course/I’m a satellite/I’m out of control…” that’s my favorite song. I’ve never played their music as a musician, I’ve never covered it but I really know it by heart because my cousins played them all the time while growing up.  What makes Freddie unique? Hindi siya takot eh. He was different. They were different. Even in the ’80s they were still different.

Ang galing, ang galing nila lahat. I’m a Queen fan and kuhang-kuha nila bawat miyembro. Nag-goosebumps ako sobra. Ang ganda, I love it. One of a kind ’yung boses niya. Hanggang ngayon wala pang ganung klaseng boses, ’yung rawness and ’yung ganung klaseng showmanship, parang it can only come from him.
