At a time when technology is creating a big difference in our lives, our needs and wants change in the blink of an eye.

Every product or service evolves through continuous research and development. This creates an opportunity for entrepreneurs to create something for the common good.

The Bedan Entrepreneurs of San Beda College Alabang (SBCA) launched its first SBCA Kickstart: Product Launch on Oct. 17 at Fr. Roberto de Jesus-St. Maur Auditorium.

SBCA Kickstart is organized in collaboration with the school’s Business Implementation course that plans to launch products and brands developed in the Bedan campus.

The Young Entrepreneur Society (YES!) San Beda College Alabang chapter president, Pierce Schönburgh Sage M. Katipunan, spearheaded the event.

He said, “Sometimes, what you envision may not actually be the outcome you’re expecting to materialize. However, if you focus hard enough on your goals, you’d be surprised that it can appear to be greater than what you have initially imagined it to be.”

Dr. Marianne D. Atinaja, FRISB, Business Implementation adviser, said, “We are not only about the profit. We are also after the satisfaction that the product can give to the customer. We are training the students to put up a proper business considering ethical and legal practices. We want to teach them that putting up a business is hard—they have to make sure that they know the process.”

The event not only showcased the talent of the youth’s innovation and entrepreneurship, but also launched the organization’s partnership with different universities and communities to create a wider reach to help society.

It also encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to help the economy by creating more opportunities for as many people from all walks of life.

The products presented consisted of essential items such as wallets, bags, water bottles, pens, watches, shoes, binders and skincare.

There was also a symposium, whose speakers and participants included Dr. Andres Ignacio C. San Mateo Jr., dean of SBCA’s College of Arts and Sciences, Voltaire B. Magpayo of Sumo Takoyaki and Sweet CORNer Philippines, and Marie Abigail Posadas, MBA, of Chilkoot Carwarsh and Café and Humblebee Pastry Shop.
