Cecile Licad to play all-Chopin concert in Manila

Cecile Licad

Cecile Licad returns to Manila for an all-Chopin piano concert on Nov. 27, 7 p.m., at the main lounge of Manila Polo Club in Makati City.

Titled “Cecile Licad: I Love Chopin,” the concert is coproduced by Zenaida R. Tantoco, president of Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra Society (PPOSI), with Amelita Guevara and her son Chips.

Philippine Airlines and the PAL Foundation are flying in Licad from New York City where she’s based.

Other concert supporters include Kevin and Michelle Tan of Megaworld Corp.; TG Limcaoco, chief financial officer and managing director of Ayala Corp; Piki Lopez of First Gen Corp. and his wife Monina; Samsonite; HSBC; and art and culture patron Danny Dolor. Malayan Insurance Company Inc. and Ralph’s Wines and Spirits are also co-presenters.

Licad, a global Steinway artist, will be playing on a Steinway B-211 grand piano, a masterfully crafted, German-made instrument with uncompromising sound and touch, provided for by Steinway Boutique Manila. The piano she will play on will be sold that evening, with a discount.

The Peninsula Manila will be Licad’s “home away from home” on her Manila visit.

After the Manila concert, Licad will be performing in three other cities, Iloilo, Baguio and Roxas: Nelly Garden Iloilo (Nov. 29, 6 p.m.); Molo Church, Iloilo (Nov. 30, 6:30 p.m.), SM Iloilo (Dec. 1, 7 p.m.); CAP Auditorium Baguio City (Dec. 6, 7:30 p.m.); and Gerry Roxas Foundation Auditorium in Roxas City (Dec. 8, 6 p.m.)

Licad’s Manila performance is a fundraiser for the PPOSI and Childhope Philippines Inc., a foundation that has cared for over 10,000 street children since 1989.

Donations in the amount of P5,000, P10,000 and P30,000 entitle donors to a ticket each. Contact Lulu Casas at lgcasas @rgoc.com.ph, 0917-5708301 or 8952109; or Chips Guevara at e-mail chipsg@gmail.com, 0917-8103245 or 5029683.
