LOOK: Marikina traffic lights flash shoes for Sapatos Festival

The traffic lights in Marikina are getting a makeover, inspired by the city’s number one product — shoes.

Some intersections in the city — known to be the country’s shoe capital — now have shoe-shaped traffic lights, in time for the Sapatos Festival. This was featured in the Marikina public relations office Facebook page on Tuesday, Nov. 20

The traffic lights could be seen along Sumulong Highway corner Shoe Avenue, Sumulong Highway corner Gil Fernando Avenue, and Andres Bonifacio Avenue in Barangay Barangka.

The local government made sure the lights are big and bright enough to be easily noticeable for motorists.

The Sapatos Festival showcases the craftsmanship and quality, style and creativity of Marikina-made shoes. The festivities started last Nov. 12 and will run until Jan. 6, 2019. JB
