Through its locally-produced premium water in 100% recyclable glass bottles, Asia Brewery Inc.’s (ABI) Summit Still and Sparkling Water strengthen its support and foster the culture of sustainable tourism with El Nido at its forefront now backed by its potential and current environmental condition.
Featured in international magazine Travel+Leisure as 6th out of the 15 Best Beach Destinations, deemed as the alternative to the popular Bali (in Indonesia) by The Venue Report that also encouraged its readers to pay the island a visit, and having concluded 2017 with 200,000 tourist visitors – El Nido, Palawan has definitely made a scene both locally and abroad. However, as with other frequently visited tourist destinations, there are pressing environmental concerns that should be addressed and given sustainable resolutions to.
After a surprise inspection in November, the inter-agency task force determined El Nido is encountering similar problems – easement of shoreline, overcrowding, and waste disposal management – with recently rehabilitated Boracay. The agency assured there is no need for closure but have already tackled plans on immediate clean-up and restoration.
With this, ABI Summit Still and Sparkling Water bank on its advocacy to further contribute to the environment’s betterment and encourage the inflow of visitors (locals and tourists alike) over the holidays to go for more sustainable drinking products, that can at the same time elevate and complement their lifestyle.
“ABI’s Summit Still and Sparkling Water take pride in its environment-friendly and sustainable features that we believe are of significant help to El Nido as its LGU and the inter-agency task force remedy problems on waste disposal management,” ABI Marketing Manager Jill Villanueva shares.
“It is with great pleasure that we help the island realize its full potential and be an instrument of significant change as they implement rules aimed at achieving sustainable tourism,” she adds.
Summit Still and Sparkling Water was launched in 2017 along with the celebration of its partnership with World Wide Fun Philippines (WWF). Its most recent partnership with WWF aimed to promote more sustainable packaging in time for Boracay’s re-opening last October 27.
Summit Still and Sparkling is now availbale in El Nido Resorts – Lagen Island, El Nido Resorts – Pangulasian Island, El Nido Cove Resort, Club Paradise Palawan and Apulit Island Resort.
