Obviously, members of the gay community are rejoicing over the victory, but why is Miss Universe pageant such a big event for them?
Twitter user @matthew7457 explained that the Miss Universe event is a combination of a gay’s frustrations and their competitive spirit.
Babe bakit super saya ng mga bakla sa #MissUniverse?
Babe, it is because our frustrations on being a woman and our competitive spirit of a man is being addressed by Ms. Universe & I thank you. Kob kun ka 👑

Also, the inclusion of Spain’s Angela Ponce — the first transgender candidate in the Miss Universe pageant — is also a cause for extra celebration, aside of being a source of pride and joy.

And it appears that it is a good thing that Gray won, because your friendly haircutter would have been grumpy if she didn’t.

With Gray’s coronation, she becomes the fourth Filipina to win the pageant after Gloria Diaz in 1969, Margie Moran in 1973, and Pia Wurtzbach last 2015. /cbb
