What is the best way to feel better after a painful break-up? For administrators in one zoo in Kent, United Kingdom, naming a cockroach after one’s ex can be a way to get even.

Hemsley Conservation Center (HCC) is running a campaign for Valentine’s Day that will help people feel better after a bad relationship. For a price of £1.50 (about $1.93 or P100), one can name a cockroach after an ex’s first name, complete with a certificate.

Those who are interested may head to the center’s website to avail of the Valentine’s Day campaign.

For those that don’t quite require revenge, there’s another way to make you feel better about getting back at your ex this Valentine’s Day,” HCC said, stating that one can also name a cockroach for a friend. “The HCC is offering the chance to name a cockroach in honor of your friend’s worthless ex-‘someone’ on this special holiday of love.”

HCC noted that the name of one’s ex will not appear on the certificate: “We don’t want to fuel a fire, so this is a keepsake for you or your friend, although should you wish — the certificate does come complete with a message box!”

The new name of the cockroaches, however, will be posted on the roach board located at the cockroach enclosure at the zoo.

HCC said that it opted for a “name a cockroach program” because adopting the creatures they named after exes “is a little too strong.” The institution also stated that the proceeds of the program will fund the zoo’s projects. JB
