Loud prints, micro bags, khaki—fashion trends to try in 2019

In 2018, fashion trends showcased comfort—from track pants to high-waisted jeans, to oversized sweaters and slouchy cardigans. Though they projected a laze-around attitude, these trends were socially acceptable.

The new year, however, encourages people to step out of their comfort zones—literally. Start by swapping your white tennis sneakers for white pointed slip-ons with gold hardware.

Pick white blouses with an edgy cut for a more out-there vibe.

Accessorizing can take your look to the next level. Use a belt with a pop of color, and style it by letting it hang, instead of wrapping it around your waist.

Khaki will be big this year. Pair any khaki item with other neutral colors and accessorize with a bold bag or jewelry.

Since it’s the new year, try on a ruffled top in a polka-dot print, then don a printed jacket to elevate the look.

Choose micro or mini bags to accessorize. These bags will stay trendy because of the convenience of carrying them around.

Printed polos will stay in style beyond 2019. Pick styles with loud prints. SM Youth has variations—from beer-can prints to stripes.

To add more edge, wear them with sneakers also with loud prints. Tone down the look with plain bottoms.

Half-zip tops will make a comeback this year. The trend is suitable for all genders and is easy to pull off. It can also be dressed up or down.

If you haven’t yet, it’s time to release your inner fashionista. Don’t be afraid of loud clothing or accessories, because 2019 is about one’s confidence to be in his or her own skin—and clothes. —CONTRIBUTED
