The year 2019 will be slow and mellow as beauty goes back to basics. Simple and streamlined beauty, plus a focus on Korean makeup that’s tailored for morena skin are what’s in store for you.

Bare and beautiful

“Instagram makeup” has finally taken a back seat. With 17 million-plus posts under #nomakeup alone, going bare is definitely the way to go this 2019. But bare doesn’t mean being totally makeup-free. For example, swipe waterproof mascara on your upper and lower lashes to define your eyes, instead of using the usual eyeliner. Or, to create that healthy glow, dab on a peachy lip and cheek tint and you’re all set!

Coral craze

A monotone makeup look with various shades of coral—Pantone’s color of the year—is your best bet when you’ve run out of makeup looks to try. It gives off a fresh and youthful vibe. It can even become your go-to look, whether it be for a chill brunch or a night out.

‘Glass skin’ is still in

Luminous skin will still be in, thanks to the influence of K-drama stars and K-pop groups. With the help of a thorough Korean skincare routine, the promise of a moist-looking and bouncy “glass skin” is within reach. But since most Filipino women tend to get oilier skin by the minute, you can turn to oil-control primers to balance out the look.

Pick your focus

Makeup can be your accessory. Instead of piling on bracelets or necklaces to spice up your look, go for a bright and fiery lip color. Just make sure to keep the rest of your makeup toned down.

Diversity is key

Years ago, when Korean makeup such as BB creams and tinted moisturizers were first introduced here, the shade range was limited. Korean brand Innisfree changed that. Women with kayumanggi skin tones can now enjoy K-makeup that perfectly fits their complexion.
