Super Eat Here: Modern Mediterranean at Medley

Fresh meals-to-go from Medley, a new kiosk at Fully Booked BGC

Enjoy fresh Mediterranean flavors at Medley, the new grab-and-go kiosk at Fully Booked in Bonifacio Global City.

There are a few outdoor tables for those want a quick bite (it’s where The Halal Guys was). The idea is to offer hearty but unhurried home-style food to take to work or share with the family—but be prepared to wait, because everything is cooked upon order.

The menu is “modern Mediterranean.”

Founder David Tweg said that it followed his grandma’s Israeli recipes handed down in their family, with some tweaks that he picked up while traveling.

Tweg and his dad Michael have been in the Philippines for a while. They established Mediterranean food concepts in El Nido, Palawan, and Legaspi Sunday Market in Makati City, where Medley was born.

Medley sauces

Zhug sauce

Super tried out the whole Medley menu, and it’s pretty good (if you don’t mind BGC prices). We can’t get enough of the wonderful sauces: garlic mayo, basil, mango mamba, chimichurri, lemon tahini and spicy zhug.

First, choose: sandwich, salad, rice bowl or pizza? Beef, chicken, falafel or tuna?

All items are served with the recommended sauce and topping, but you can also swap or upgrade.

Classic toppings are fried eggplant, corn, Moroccan carrot, red cabbage, Israeli salad, pickles, sumac onion and tabbouleh (parsley, tomatoes and mint in olive oil).

Premium choices (plus P20 each) are hummus, baba ghanoush (eggplant with tahini), beet, chickpea salad, spicy mathbuka, olives and grilled veggies.

The sandwiches are served two ways: as a pita wrap or in a laffa—a chewy Middle Eastern bread (P179-P279).

Beef Kofte pita, which looks like a shawarma, is a safe choice. Don’t dismiss the basic-looking Levantine Chicken with fried eggplant and mamba sauce; the meat is smoky, slightly toasty and surprisingly flavorful. The El Nido is a filling vegetarian falafel sandwich.

“Mediterranean cuisine is characterized by bold flavors which we had to temper for the Filipino palate,” Tweg said.

Toppings for the Colorful Bowls are Crunchy Falafel, Levantine Chicken, Beef Kofte and Seared Tuna Sashimi with hard-boiled egg. These meats (P249-P369) come with a choice of hummus and pita, or fragrant Mediterranean rice—which we love, of course.

The salads (P279-P329) are served with sauces instead of dressings, Tweg added. Salad selections: Baked Falafel Bite with falafel nuggets, zesty Lemon & Herb Chicken, Seared Tuna Sashimi, and our favorite Guilt-Free Greek with generous feta and chimichurri sauce (keto-friendly, too).

The Big Cheese Pizza

 ‘The Legaspi’ pizza

Medley pizzas (P249-P299) come in one size—9-inch, thick-crust. It is great hot, but you have to gnaw it once it gets cold.

We recommend The Big Cheese Pizza, a cheese party of melted mozzarella, parmesan, cheddar and feta on a basil-pesto base.

The Legaspi has Beef Kofte. Chicken Salsa has Levantine chicken and red bell peppers, while Garden Medley has spinach and grilled veggies.

There are no desserts, but you may order the refreshing Ginger Mint Lemonade (P80) which goes well with all of the items.

Medley is at Fully Booked, Taguig City; open 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Follow @medleymodernmed on social media.
