Mom Made: Local Mompreneurs Spread the Love at Mommy Mundo World

The first-ever ultimate mom resource destination, Mommy Mundo World, is happening this weekend, February 16-17 at the Powerplant Mall and it’s shining a bright light on Mom Made; a curated list of successful and innovative mompreneurs who designed and invented their own products, created their services and developed their own brands, borne out of their passion for homegrown and proudly local enterprises.

Find out more about their passion projects, what they’re featuring for Mom Made and why they always come home to their Mommy Mundo community.

ETHEL BERNALES FOR STYLE ME LITTLE, timeless, whimsical and unique clothing and accessories for babies and kids. @stylemelittle

Featuring tutu dresses and hairpieces for Mom Made, Ethel’s daughter has always been her inspiration for Style Me Little.

Being the first time mom of a little girl, Ethel found joy in dressing her up. A simple bow made a lot of difference in putting together a complete outfit. She also loves planning for her kids’ celebrations and that is reflected on the products that Style Me Little carries.

Ethel shares, “I’ve been joining Mommy Mundo events since we started in 2011 and I appreciate the community and the support that they’ve given us all these years. I’m also thrilled with the Mommy Mundo World concept because the motherhood/parenting journey has many aspects and is far more complex. I think MM World encapsulates that. As a mompreneur with a homegrown brand/business, it is quite challenging but also very rewarding, so I appreciate that MM World highlights that as well.”

GRACE BARBERS-BAJA FOR TASTE BY GRACE HOME, a repertoire of fine foods. @gracehomemanila and @thespoiledmummy

A lifestyle entrepreneur who created her first brand in 2015, Grace Home Manila, with her signature-scented beeswax candles, stationery, and room fragrances, she pivoted her brand in 2017 with Taste by Grace Home.
As a person who has always been known for her generosity in sharing her ideas — starting with her blog TheSpoiledMummy.com, and then through Grace Home Manila, Grace believes that Taste by Grace Home is where she has really found her calling. “I’ve been sharing a lot about myself, my home and my ways of entertaining,” says Grace, “Now, it’s time for me to share what I love to cook, eat and serve!”
Grace shares, “I’ve always admired Mommy Mundo for its strong campaign and advocacy in helping our women, especially the mummies out there. Mommy Mundo led by Janice Villanueva is the pioneer and always has been at the forefront in organizing and promoting events, products and experiences that will benefit our women / mummy community. So it was definitely an easy and natural thing for me to say YES to their invitation to be a part of this exciting event!”

LUANNE SANTIAGO FOR ZOE & TIAGO, stylish and functional bags for the modern parent. @zoenandtiago

When Luanne’s daughter, Zoe, was still a baby, the search for the right diaper bag was a pain point for her and her husband – there weren’t a lot of options then. They went through 7 bags and still they were not completely satisfied. She felt there were other parents out there who were going through the same experience. So she decided to create zoe&tiago. She wanted to offer diaper bags that are stylish, functional, locally made and can be used by parents wearing multiple hats even beyond the nursing/diaper stage.

Luanne shares, “Mommy Mundo has always been a source of inspiration for me – first as a mom and now as a mompreneur. When the Mommy Mundo team presented to us Mommy Mundo World, we didn’t hesitate to become part of it. We wanted to contribute in building this community of parents helping other parents. Because at the end of the day, we’re all in this together and it takes a village to raise children.”

MIA LAUCHENGCO FOR SO TRUE NATURALS PHILIPPINES, only the finest ingredients we would use generously on or around our own young children. @sotruenaturals

Especially for Mom Made, Mia is excited to be featuring new soaps for the first time! She says, “We always have our Castile soaps but for this weekend, we will have soaps formulated for the face and for the body (Castile soaps are great for bathing!)”

When asked what inspired her to become a mompreneur, she says, “It was really seeing that there was a need for mild and gentle soaps for babies–because my baby needed it, and I couldn’t find anything in the market that was mild enough for her… and it’s been 10 years since!”

Mia also shares, “Mommy Mundo’s Expo Mom was one of the first bazaars I joined and I’ve connected with many people and made friends because of it. I thought it would be nice to connect with younger moms (the last one I joined was in 2012), and I thought MM World would be the best way to do this.”

MARCELLE TIU FOR Baby sTEEckies, milestone onesies that help capture your baby’s growth during the first year. @babysteeckies

Marcelle had the milestone onesies idea when she got pregnant with her third and last child. She realized she wasn’t able to capture the monthly growth of her first 2 kids and decided she wouldn’t let that happen anymore. Then she saw some monthly stickers online and thought how great these would look printed on a onesie with a customized name on it. It all started there; from the great idea of finding a way to cherish your baby’s milestones during their first year so she wanted to share it.

Her White Walls PH, wall decals in Nordic and scandi themes that are just peel and stick as well as BabyOhMama baby essential products designed for babies with strong history of skin allergy and asthma, will also be featured on Mom Made.

Marcelle shares, “I know that Mommy Mundo has been helping momprenuers for years in advertising & supporting small businesses like ours.”

ABYGAIL LUA FOR MO ME, nursing and maternity wear www.momewear.com

Mo Me products are mostly ready to wear items specifically made for maternity and nursing moms to make them look fabulous.

Abygail shares, “My co-owner and I are breastfeeding our babies. Since we always direct feed our babies and we need our clothes to have easy access so we could do it discreetly, at first we only made few pieces for ourselves. Then friends and relatives would ask where we bought it. Eventually it gave us the idea that there was a need and we wanted to make moms’ lives easier, make them feel good about themselves. That’s why we came up with this business.

Asked why she chose to be part of Mommy Mundo World, Abygail shares, “Sometimes sharing our stories while selling our products give so much inspiration not just for the new moms that want to be better, but also for us as we learn so many good stories on how this parenting journey brings out their best selves. It gives us inspiration to make better products that inspire and give simple joy to new mom and dads.”

PAOLA LOOT BRONFMAN FOR MOMMY TREATS, the yummy way to help increase your milk supply! @mommytreats

Back in 2010, Mommy Treats pioneered the Lactation Treats industry in the Philippines with hopes of adding a fun and yummy aspect to breastfeeding. Paola loved the idea of rewarding oneself with a treat (hence the name!). All within the comfort of knowing that what you’re eating both satiates your breastfeeding-mom-cravings while helping you with your breastfeeding journey! Paola feels it is such a privilege to be able to create something that helps empower and support moms – one that she is truly thankful for these past 8 years.

Paola shares, “My bestseller (and personal favorite!) are my Lactation Brownies. It’s just so decadent! It’s loved by a lot of moms (and their husbands and kids, too!) – and it’s even better with our Lactation Ice Cream!”

She also says that she joined Mommy Mundo World because, “It’s such a beautiful community. When you’re part of it, you feel like you’re part of a family. People look after each other, everyone’s generous in one way or another, and you feel empowered to be more, to do more, and to reach potentials. It’s so nice to flourish in an environment where you’re celebrated and not intimidated. Truly a keeper of a community.”
