Pinay finalist in “American Idol.” While the ratings of this year’s “American Idol” premiere has plunged, Filipinos may still have a reason to tune in: Jessica Sanchez, the Fil-Am who, according to spoilers, have made it to Season 11’s Top 24. With her exotic looks and powerful voice, the singer, who was a semifinalist in the first season of America’s Got Talent years ago, looks like she’s got a strong chance to win in the competition.
A grown-up Glee. Sick and tired or feeling too old for “Glee”? Then “Smash” should interest you. Possibly an adult version of “Glee” (or not, actually), this show stars “American Idol” graduate Katharine McPhee as a Broadway hopeful who auditions as the lead star of a musical on the life and death of Marilyn Monroe. Expect a lot of singing, plus some R-18 stuff (we assume). Definitely no slushie drinks here though.
Heidi Klum says “Auf Wiedersehen” to Seal. Some good things never last, as proven by the power couple who have decided to separate, after being together for nearly seven years (which is forever in Hollywood). We’ll truly miss the crazy Halloween costumes the two come up with every year.
A Pinoy movie poster that actually looks good. Well, kind of. Compared to most local movie posters out there, the one for the John Lloyd Cruz-Angel Locsin starrer “Unofficially Yours” is actually attention-grabbing—in a good way. It even looks Hollywood-y, don’t you think? Never mind how there are just too many font styles used for the title, and how the two stars look like they had too much glutathione. Niño Mark M.
