Your Super guide to Big Bad Wolf  | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Big Bad Wolf (BBW) is back, bringing with it two million books that you can buy at 50- to 90-percent off.

There are plenty of finds for people of all ages including augmented reality books that will blow your kids’ minds.

Planning to go? Here are some Super tips:

Kids are absolutely welcome at the sale. In fact, there are plenty of areas devoted to titles and products for them.

Wear comfortable shoes. The sale area is massive and trust us, you’ll be doing a lot of walking.

Go on a full stomach. The only thing that made us take a break from hunting for books was our hunger. But if you and your kids do get hungry, don’t worry, there are kiosks serving different kinds of food—from roast duck and sisig to nachos and sausages. There are a couple of coffee shops, too. You won’t starve at BBW.

Don’t rush. Give yourself a few hours to go around and check out the stocks. You’ll need them. The kids’ section alone is huge, divided into categories like Board Books, Sticker Books, Activity Books, Games and Puzzles and more.

It’s inevitable—you will run into people you know. The day we went, we ran into 13 people. Thirteen! Expect mini reunions as you go around. But they will just be quick hellos because everyone will be eager to return to shopping.

The sale runs 24 hours a day. To avoid crowds, you might want to go in the middle of the night. We’re not kidding. You can shop in peace at 2 a.m.

Teamwork works. If you’re shopping with other people, tell one another which titles or authors you’re looking for so they can keep their eye out for it. That’s how we found Ernest Hemingway titles, fun Beatles books and a series of Roald Dahl paperbacks.

Be kind to other shoppers and to the Big Bad Wolf team by returning unwanted books where you found them.

Join the Wolf Pack for even more discounts. You can sign up at the Customer Service area.

If you’re shopping with kids, there’s a special checkout line for you.

Use PayMaya, BBW’s official digital payments partner, to pay for your books. If you pay via PayMaya QR purchase, you can get an instant cashback of 1 percent, 10 percent and 100 percent (a maximum of P1,000). We got a 10-percent rebate! (Which we will of course spend on more books).

You can give back by donating books to the Red Readerhood program. BBW has pledged to donate 1,000 books to Gawad Kalinga communities in the Philippines. BBW also hired people from Gawad Kalinga to work as cashiers and porters at the sale.

Big Bad Wolf Book Sale is happening 24 hours a day until March 4 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
