Catriona Gray pays courtesy call on senators

MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray paid a courtesy call to senators on Tuesday.

 

Gray was received at the Senate by Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Senators Gringo Honasan and Nancy Binay.

 

Sotto and Binay were among those who filed separate resolutions in the Senate, commending Gray for bringing “great honor, glory and recognition” to the country and the Filipino people.

 

During a short ceremony, Sotto presented to Gray the resolutions adopted by the Senate.

Sotto, in a speech, was all praises for Gray’s win and bringing “great honor, glory and recognition” to all Filipinos.

 

“We are truly blessed and honored that Miss Universe Catriona Elisa Gray is here us today to personally receive and has received commendation from the members of the Senate,” the Senate leader said.

 

“Continue to inspire others, specially the youth in pursuing worthwhile advocacies that could make our country, and the world, the universe, rather, to be a better place for everyone,” Sotto added.

 

An elated Gray vowed not only to pursue her advocacies but to also hold the Filipinos at “very high standard.”

 

“This has been one amazing homecoming week for me to be able to celebrate and share this victory with all of the Filipinos in the Philippines. And it gives me great joy to see the joy that I brought to our nation,” she said.

 

“I will continue po this year to hold the Filipino at very high standard to the international audience and also to continue to pursue my advocacies,” Gray added. 

 

Gray was crowned Miss Universe 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand last December.

 

She is the fourth Filipina to win the crown after Gloria Diaz (1969), Margarita Moran (1973), and Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach (2015). /je
