32 artists in Conrad Manila’s 7th ‘Art and Wine’ show

“Art Harvest at Gallery C” at Conrad Manila

Conrad Manila recently unveiled the seventh and newest installment of its  “Of Art and Wine” series.

The exhibit was envisioned as a companion showcase to compliment the celebration of National Arts Month, and was spearheaded by artist Rosscapili.

Titled “Art Harvest at Gallery C,” the exhibit features a cascade of visual art pieces from 32 local artists—from brass sculptures, paintings, stainless steel pieces and glass creations.

Apart from working around the awkward design of the gallery—it’s actually a long, high-ceilinged hallway in the hotel—Rosscapili had to quickly gather artworks for the exhibit. “I sent an email to 36 artists, asking them for works that have not yet been exhibited. Thirty-two replied,” said Rosscapili.

The result of the team’s two-week preparation is a bounty of visual delight, with 64 pieces from established and upcoming artists.

There are photographs of the Philippine Eagle by photographer Alain Pascua; brass sculptures by Ferdinand Cacnio; watercolor and gouache paintings by Cee Cadid; and pieces by Rosscapili himself.

There are also mixed media works by Lenore S. Lim, Rico Lascano and Sam Penaso. Other featured artists include Pandy Aviano, Joan Balbarona, Omi Reyes, Valen Valero and Bien Bautista.

“An exhibit of this scale has not yet been done here in the gallery,” said Laurent Boisdron, Conrad Manila general manager. “We’re impressed and happy with how it turned out.”

The exhibit exemplifies the hotel’s now renowned patronage for local artists. Conrad Manila’s own art installations are taken from a roster of established artists like Impy Pilapil, Leeroy New, Yasmin Doctor, Eugene Jarque, Khia Chong and Mac Valdezco. —CONTRIBUTED
