On my website today, I’m sharing my foundation routine. I’m a big advocate of mastering your foundation look before anything else. It’s the first thing you need to look your best on a “no makeup” makeup look day. Once you’re done with you base, all you need is mascara and a good lip. For your smokey eye looks, good skin via foundation, contour and your highlight complements the look. It makes sure that your eye look pops. Same goes for when pulling off a bold lip. Knowing also what foundation routine best suits you also helps you avoid using too many products. In the end, I believe less is always more, especially when it comes to your face makeup. If you apply it on too thick, your skin won’t be able to breathe. You also might be too harsh trying to take off all that makeup, causing damage to your skin. For me, you may be a bit surprised that I just use different kinds of foundation for my base, highlight, and contour. I do this because I like for it to all blend into to the skin. It’s just easier as well. Next time you buy your foundation shade, pick one that’s a bit darker and one that is a little lighter. These three provide a seamless way to put shadows on your face and also put emphasis on the high points. And don’t forget that a good foundation routine doesn’t have to always have expensive products. Sure, I’m not opposed to splurging if you can. But it’s always aim more for quality. How well they work, how long they last on the skin, and if they have skincare ingredients: these are the things to watch out for. For the list of products I use, visit my website!
