Crazy discounts at National Book Store’s Great Warehouse Sale and Super Summer Sale | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

“Jackpot,” a girl said, grabbing a book that had been discarded by another shopper.

Welcome to National Book Store’s Great Warehouse Sale—which, this time, is actually happening at National Book Store’s warehouse at Quad Alpha Building along Pioneer St.—where good finds are plenty and discounts are crazy.

They promised up to 80% off items but we actually found items at 90% off. There were also plenty of great titles at just P50. There are big discounts too on premium stationery and imported brands like Kate Spade New York, Bando and Leuchtturm1917.

Here are some Super tips to help you make the most out of the sale.

  1. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Light and breezy fabrics will keep you cool and comfy footwear will help you navigate the sale floor with ease.
  2. Go on a full stomach. Don’t make our mistake. Make sure you’ve eaten so you’ll have plenty of energy to spot great finds. If you left the house without having a meal, don’t worry. National Book Store has its Books and Beans Cafe at the ground floor of Quad Alpha Building, there’s a Shakey’s across the street and there’s a McDonald’s just a few steps away.
  3. Stay hydrated. Bring water. You will need it as it tends to get hot especially with the crowd in the afternoon. Drinks and snacks are available at the sale entrance too but purchase them as you go in because once you’re deep in the sale, “swimming” back to where they are could be tricky.
  4. Leave the children at home. The sale gets crowded, really crowded, and you will not have the time and the energy to take care of a little person while trying to grab an activity book from the P50 pile.
  5. Go with a companion, if you can.  That way you can cover more areas, look for more titles, and you also have someone to help you carry all your purchases.
  6. The minute you see something you like, grab it. Items disappear super fast. Hesitate for five minutes and it could be gone.
  7. Check the sorting area.  There could be titles that you like and that others have spotted, picked up but decided to let go of at the last minute. Just make sure that they are truly discarded books by asking the person nearest them.
  8. Don’t be shy, ask the other shoppers where they got a particular find. We found the other book lovers very helpful. National Book Store’s salespeople are also ready to assist you, offering tips on great bargains and they’ll help you look for items you want.
  9. Bring wet wipes and/or alcohol. Your hands will get dusty so you’ll need them. If you forget, National Book Store sells wipes at the counter.
  10. Bring a suitcase or two.  You can use it as your cart while you shop or to carry the books out of the warehouse and into the parking lot or to your Grab ride.  The staff of NBS are also ready to assist you with your purchases.
  11. Use the price scanners around the sale area to verify prices.
  12. Go more than once if you can. They keep opening new boxes and adding items to the sale so there are plenty of finds waiting at each visit.

The Warehouse Sale runs until March 31 at Quad Alpha Building 125 Pioneet St. Mandaluyong City from 10 a.m. to midnight.

Missing the sale? Don’t worry. National Book Store is bringing the great deals (discounts of up to 80% off!) to all their branches with the National Book Store Super Summer Sale which runs until April 14.
