Like his onscreen character Murph, Odiseas Georgiadis has mad skills. The young actor sings, has done theater and essayed a bunch of small screen roles. “The Perfect Date” is his first really big project, and the wry Georgiadis is ready.
“Out of all of us, this is definitely the biggest for me, with the potential to become so, you know, huge. This is definitely my first role of this kind, and even coming into this, it was amazing just doing this project, working on it and trying to be the very best as the character.
Georgiadis, Noah Centineo and Laura Marano got along extremely well during the shoot. “It was beautiful,” Georgiadis said. “It was just people connecting, its nothing else behind it, no extra stuff.” And all that was before they got into character. “And I think that shows.”
Georgiadis’ costars are quick to mention that Georgiadis is the most stylish of the three. “Fashion killer,” Centineo calls him, pointing out that “he comes to the set incredibly dressed, like he was walking the runway. Everything about Odiseas is statement: the way he speaks, the way he dresses, the way he texts, the way that he sings, the way that he moves. When the world gets to meet this kid, on whatever platform and whatever capacity, I just think the world is going to be a better place.”
His idea for a perfect date: “Any girl that I’m looking at I don’t look like, it’s just physical. Of course, there has to be an attraction between the two of us. But after that, she has just to be her, have her own thing, something I can appreciate and some that we can appreciate together. Someone who’s funny. I’m really into people. It would be purely internal. I can’t be with someone who treats people different. I feel like I want to be with someone who treats everyone equally with the same respect, who knows herself. It’s nice person or working to be a nice person, someone who has a vision preferably or wants to go for something that would be awesome.”
Georgiadis’ character Murph is the technically inclined best friend to Centineo’s Brooks, the guy who makes the app The Stand-In a reality. But he’s more than the tech guy; he has his own motivations and problems. Georgiadis’ performance makes Murph so memorable you’ll no doubt recognize the actor in the roles that are sure to come his way after “The Perfect Date.”
“And then let it all go and give it to God. Because for me, I don’t want it to, like, guess what’s going to happen,” Odiseas Georgiadis said. “And then, when, when you let what’s going to happen, happen, you can be pleasantly surprised, whatever happens, whether 10 people watch it or 100 people watch it.” —Ruel S.
