BEAUTY BEAT: Here’s another side of BJ Pascual you haven’t seen

Chilling with his dog Bowie

I met BJ Pascual roughly eight years ago when we worked together on a fashion editorial—a first for both of us. Since then, we’ve remained friends and I’ve witnessed the hard work he has put into honing his craft.

He has already published a book (Push by BJ Pascual), done 300+ magazine covers, and photographed the likes of Troy Sivan and Coco Rocha

He would edit photographs till the wee hours of the morning, work shoots even when he hasn’t had a wink of sleep, and tirelessly give his creative inputs for each campaign and editorial. As such, he has already published a book (Push by BJ Pascual), done 300+ magazine covers, and photographed the likes of Troy Sivan and Coco Rocha.

Despite the well-deserved success he has attained at such a young age, he’s remained the kindhearted and generous person most have known him to be. He’s one to willingly give tips and advice to both his friends and his admirers — a fact his highly engaged social media followers can attest to.

As most already know him as a photographer, to shake things up, we dropped by his home/studio to get the scoop on his latest obsession: skincare and makeup. Want to find out how he gets that glowing skin and manages to look fresh in this sweat-inducing heat? Watch the video below.

BJ shares 10 things about his beauty and fashion preferences:

  1. Biggest beauty influence: For skincare, my wowa because growing up, I would always see (and use) all her different creams on her dresser. For makeup, definitely the makeup artists I work with!
  2. Best beauty advice: Always wear sunscreen and don’t be afraid to use makeup!
  3. Self-described style: E Pa-cute. Fearlessly effeminate.
  4. Fashion icons: Robert Mapplethorpe, David Bowie, Prince. People who pushed the boundaries of gender.
  5. Oldest and dearest piece: A Proudrace sleeveless tee with designer names in rock band logotypes.
  6. Collection: High heeled boots and chunky sneakers. The few inches of height they add gives me a boost in confidence. Also, I just realized I have way too many swim trunks. I end up buying for every beach trip and it all just added up throughout the years.
  7. Current statement piece: A Dior homme chain necklace
  8. Next on my wish list: A Russian Prison Tattoo top from Vetements’ Spring 2019 collection! I’ve been obsessed with it since I saw images from the show!
  9. Fashion brands: Balenciaga, Dior, Vetements, Martine Rose, and Raf Simons
  10. Current makeup must-haves: 3cE Take A Layer Multi Pot in Diotime, Sunnies Face Lifebrow in Ash Brown, and Marc Jacobs Bronzer in Tantric
