A group of teachers from Alabama, United States, banded together and donated their sick leaves to a colleague whose baby has leukemia.
David Green, a football coach in Mae Jemison High School in Huntsville, had run out of sick days and needed about 40 more to be with his baby daughter Kinsley. As per WHNT on April 24, Kinsley, who was only 10 months old when she was diagnosed with cancer, has been undergoing chemotherapy since October 2018.
David’s wife, Megan, first took to social media last month to ask his colleagues if they could donate their sick days to her husband so he could spend more time with the family.
It did not take long for David’s colleagues to spring into action and donate over 100 sick days to him.
“You know, you want to send words of encouragement, you want to do something to help,” Anna Kachleman, a first grade teacher at the school, said in the report. “This was a real physical way that we could help him and his family.”
Meanwhile, Megan continues to update supporters of Kinsley through the Facebook group they created in her honor, called “Kinsley Kicks Cancer.” A GoFundMe page “Kinsley’s Kicking Cancer” has also been set up for donations to the family. Cody Cepeda /ra
