Teen who passed 10 college entrance tests shares tips

MANILA, Philippines — An incoming college freshman, who passed all 10 of the college entrance exams she had taken, has shared on Facebook advice to students who will be taking their college admission examinations soon.

In her post, Patricia Antoinette Tapel noted how she passed all of exams she had taken — namely, for the University of the Philippines, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, Far Eastern University, University of the East, De La Salle University, Technological University of the Philippines, Philippine State College of Aeronautics, the Phinma-Saint Jude College, and the DOST Science Education Institute Scholarship Program.

She was not bragging, she said, but merely wanted to take the “opportunity to hopefully inspire” future exam takers.

According to Tapel, a graduate of the Christian Ecclesiastical School in San Jose, Bulacan, enrolling in review centers “helps a lot,” but it will not guarantee an automatic “passing” of exams to your desired schools.

“It prepares you on what to expect in entrance exams and you can actually get a lot of helpful tips you can use on the actual exams. It also helps you realize what subject areas you need to work on so you can score higher on tests,” she said.

Tapel also urged aspirants to plan ahead of time and to create a study habit.

“Set a strict studying schedule for even at least 30 minutes a day. This might not sound fun but if you make it a routine, it can actually help because hey, even the littlest of progress in studying is still progress,” she continued.

She said that it also beneficial to study with friends and to keep the “eyes on the prize.”

“This is a great way to share your knowledge and have your friends to share their knowledge with you. And doing things with your friends makes it even more fun, right?” Tapel said.

“Studying with a goal set in mind ignites a fire inside of you so don’t let it die. You can do and achieve everything as long as you work hard for it,” she added.

Lastly, Tapel reminded future exam takers not overwork and stress themselves out too much.

“While studying hard is very important, relaxing is equally important too,” she said.

“Special note: Apply to every university you can so you will have a bunch of schools to choose from later on. Pls don’t be lazy,” she added.

Tapel’s post, which was posted on Monday, April 29, has already taken social media by storm as it amassed almost 6,000 reactions and above 4,000 shares as of this posting time.
